Structure of EEA:
General Administration
The General Administration includes the following units:
- Finances;
- Human Resources and Administrative Legal Service;
- Chancellery and Property Management
- Environmental Monitoring Directorate
Is responsible for observation and control network on environmental components;
Is responsible for the National System for permanent control of radiation gamma-background;
Is responsible for the Aviation Noise Monitoring System in Sofia;
Takes part in the development of the Environment Cadastre;
Collects, process and report information to the European Environment Agency;
Carries out analyses and assessments of the Environmental state;
Takes part in national and international programs and projects;
Is responsible for the development of the NASEM subsystems;
Issues periodical Bulletins and Annual Bulletin for the State of Environment.
Creates and maintains data base containing information on the Environmental components;
Provides data for periodical Bulletins and Annual Bulletin for the State of Environment;
Carries out the Information exchange between the Ministry of Environment and Water,
the Regional Inspectorates and other institutions;
Acquires, maintains and upgrades the basic Hardware and Software necessary for proper
functioning of the systems;
Creates and maintains Ecological map data bank;
Develops, implements and maintains modern technological solutions on the base of
Remote Sensing and GIS for Spatial visualization And analysis of environmental information;
Co-ordinates the international relations of the Agency, including the organization of
international activities;
Maintains specialised library on environmental problems and participates in the
establishment of General National Bibliographic data base;
Organizes national and international exchange of bibliographic information on
environment.
- Analytical Laboratories Directorate
Analytical laboratories for air quality, water quality, soils and waste, accredited according
to ISO 45001, has appropriate equipment, provides environmental data to the National
Monitoring System and carries out environmental control within the MOEW;
Organizes the operation of stationary automatic stations for air control and supports the
technical systems;
Carries out analysis in cases of accidents;
Takes part in the setting of new methods for sampling and analytical control in
accordance with the European Union requirements;
Harmonises the Bulgarian Standards in the field of control of the pollutants with
European and International Standards;
Provides management to the Regional Inspectorates and the laboratories;
Elaborates specifications and conducts tenders for delivery of flowing materials,
chemicals, reactive, laboratory containers, apparatuses and others;
Takes part in international programs;
